Paddlesports Range

KJO offer a comprehensive range of custom and bespoke paddlesport modular (PM) courses designed to integrate within the educational calendar to offer flexibility in gaining access to personal development, training and qualifications;

  • PM Option 1: Select from any of our existing courses then in consultation with our Active Education Support Officer, customise it into a module format that fits into your institutions/students calendar. KJO will provide all the relevant learning resources which will be available in a resource pack and can be integrated into institutions physical education studies.
  • PM Option 2: Create your own bespoke programme in consultation with our Active Education Support Officer. After discussing your requirements they will create a program that can be fully integrated into your student’s studies. As with option 1 all relevant resources will be available in a resource pack.

Expedition Range

An Expedition is defined as "a journey with a purpose" and there are many ways you can approach such a trip. KJO provide 4 options which allow schools and colleges to customise their expedition using our services. This allows you to choose the level of interaction your students have in planning and leading their expedition;

  • Expedition Option 1: The institution / teacher, in consultation with the KJO, would decide on a suitable destination and then build an itinerary to your particular needs. Accommodation, transport, flights and all other services are arranged in advance. All pre-expedition training will be provided by our highly experienced coaching team.
  • Expedition Option 2: Similar to Option 1, but with more input from the group. Expedition members would establish a "steering committee" for the trip which, in consultation with an appointed KJO support officer and/or teacher, would decide on a suitable destination and itinerary. They would take a more active role in the pre-trip organisation and preparation. Different members of the group could be responsible for particular areas such as researching vaccination requirements, visa requirements, cultural awareness, how the environmental impact of the trip could be reduced, expedition photography and video. This approach gives the students more control over their expedition. Any pre-trip training would again be organised and delivered by KJO.
  • Expedition Option 3: The complete "personal development" expedition. Students are "in charge" of the expedition from day one with guidance and direction from an appointed KJO coach. The expedition is designed by the students from a series of training modules using our services as required. Pre-expedition training and an experienced guide are all included. Students are expected to fundraise for the expedition over the 1 – 2 year build up period. Whilst on expedition students are expected to take turns to fulfil the various necessary roles. Mentoring/guiding occurs in an "as necessary" style.
  • Expedition Option 4: A tailor-made expedition with full pre-trip training and development programmes. The expedition would be accompanied by a UK leader provided by the KJO. This approach is very similar to all that is offered in Option 3, but without the students being “in-charge” of the expedition itinerary or the day to day management of the expedition when in the destination. This gives the assurance that the expedition will run according to the planned itinerary, whilst also offering training, team building and guiding.
